Hyolmo Gonpa

Hyolmo Social Service Center is a non-governmental, non-profit making social organization dedicated for the preservation of culture, tradition, and religion of Hyolmo Indigenous community. 

It gained legal status as a national level organization in 1994 AD in order to represent the community in Kathmandu and to function as an organized body that could address the social and cultural needs of the Hyolmo community. It is a membership based organization with total of 750+ house hold members as recorded to date. There are 31 executive working committee members and under this executive body different subcommittee formed in order to run organization smoothly. This organization is also committed in providing support for the preservation and development of Buddhism and traditional practices of Himalayan Buddhism.

Objectives of Hyolmo Social Service Center

  • To provide a place (vanue) to all the migrated Hyomos in order to organize various auspicious celebrations and funerals. 
  • To organize various activities that help uplift Hyolmo indigenous community.
  • Help preserve the culture and traditions of Hyolmo indigenous community.
  • Help preserve the Himalayan Buddhist rituals and practices amongst Hyolmo community.
  • Encourage young Hyolmo youths in various fields which would in turn help uplift the overall Hyolmo community.
  • Help create a sense of need to preserve tradition and culture of Hyolmo Indigenous community.
  • To gather all the scattered Hyolmo migrants dwelling in Kathmandu and else where and help them in all respects they are in need of.
